Dear Friends,

Street Pastors are developing a new daytime service in the City Centre. This is exciting news for anybody who loves Street Pastors but has been unsure or unable to join us in the evenings and night-time. Please help us to spread the word that we are looking for volunteers.

Street Pastors is about "listening, caring and helping". It is not about preaching, although our volunteers are often asked to chat about their own faith and to pray with people. Anybody over 18 and who is a member of a local church can apply. This year we are hoping to secure a budget to help volunteers with specific expenses, such as child-care in order to volunteer in the day-time.

Did you know that some of our best Street Pastors are in retirement age? One 80-year old granny in London has an amazing rapport with people of all ages within the local community, and she feels safe and secure as she is well trained and always working within a strong team.

Please help us by telling your friends, networks and churches. Here is a card that will help you: Street Pastors info.pdf

It contains further information and it has been designed for economical printing, three cards per sheet of A4, double-sided. It is great for giving to people or for inserting into church notices.

We have a no obligation information evening on Friday 28th October at 8pm, Hilton Church, Tomatin Road.

People can also get in touch directly.

The text of the card is shown below along with our contact details.

Thank you for your help,

Mark
P.S.. We're looking for more volunteers for our existing work too.

See video below for further information about the Street Pastors scheme.
And text following for details about Information Evening and Training Days.

 Introduction to Street Pastors

YOU CAN do this!

Street Pastors is an interdenominational church initiative taking practical care to the streets. Our role is listening, caring and helping - not preaching. We have been working in Inverness City Centre, Merkinch and Hilton for four years, and we have now been invited to develop a daytime service in the City Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity for anybody over 18 and in a local church of any Christian denomination, to serve our city with love and kindness. If you love Street Pastors but have been unsure about night-time work then this new daytime service is literally right up your street.

We’re looking for 30 volunteers who can give half a day per month. We can help with expenses such as child- care to free you up.

We’ll give you some fabulous training which will help in all areas of life, not just Street Pastors. And we’ll look after you with the help and support of your church.

Why not come along to our next, no obligation, information evening? Details below. If you’re especially keen then you may want to put all the training dates in your diary.

Or return the card to us with your contact details. p.s. we’re looking for more regular volunteers too
