Evanton Cornerstone004

A warm welcome awaits you at Cornerstone Cafe. It is our Church-run community café and outreach to Evanton. God has graciously provided us with a prime site right in the heart of the village, we are on the corner by the post office. Our aim is to reach out with Gods powerful Love to all. As you read on you will find that we are more than ‘A Cup of Tea’

Our outreach to the community began 4 years ago with modest means supplying tea and biscuits only but has grown quite considerably in the last 18 months now supplying Hot and Cold snacks, Teas and Special Coffees. Our humble provision reaches more than just our locals but tourists, travellers, and cyclists form around the world, we’ve had folk from as far away as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Orkney and anything else in between!!

We also : -

Sell Bric a Brac and second hand books

  • Run a secondhand Christian Library of books, tapes and video’s
  • operate a Christian Book Shop with gifts, cards and jewelry known as ‘House of David’: this is also housed within the Café
  • sell Traidcraft Foods and Gift items
  • hold and sell Local Crafts such as Paintings and Hand Made Cards, Knitted and Sewn articles, and Hand Made Jewellery.
  • sell our own printed T-shirts and Sweatshirts with Christian logos

We offer the following facilities-
  • Internet and Email access,
  • Photocopying, laminating and A3 printing facilities
  • Photograph printing – scanned, photocopied or card read from digital camera
All of this is as a non-profit making charity and all proceeds go towards the running costs of the project.

Our outreach is in various forms; we operate mainly with volunteers, some of our volunteers have come needing help to gain confidence in every day life.

Prayer Room

We have recently started this prayerful ministry, which we call ‘Open Door’, it is open to the public where we try to encourage them to try prayer for every day life ‘s problems and healing. This is led by our minister Rev Donnie MacSween with members of the Kiltearn Parish Church and assisted by the Christian Fellowship of Healing (Highland) led by Rev Jim Rettie.

Tuesdays
1.00 – 4.00 pm
and 7.30 – 9.00pm

Do come along should you desire prayer for anything. All requests for prayer are treated with sensitivity and in strict confidence.

Cornerstone Club is run for primary-age children and preparation is in progress for a Youth Club in March.

Senior Citizens Lunch Club
Plans are underway to start this project soon.

Coffee Morning fund raising
These coffee mornings are usually on Saturdays; and the purpose is to raise funds for local, national and worldwide charities and disasters.
Donations have been made to the following situations and organisations:-
Pakistan earthquake, Asian tsunami, Love Russia (orphanages), Meningitis UK, Elgin flood, Homestart (Alness) - to name but a few.
And occasionally for ourselves! (We have been given the exciting option of buying our present premises, but our deadline is November 2007. Please pray for us to find the funds in such a short space of time)

Knitted Squares
We have an ongoing collection of knitted squares, which are donated to us then with volunteer help are knitted together to make blankets which are then distributed to various needs through out the world via Blythswood, Evanton. Please feel free to help us with this.
.
We actively encourage members and groups in the Community to use our facilities, at present these are:-

  • A Walking Group, which meets on Wednesdays at 10am, meeting back at the Café for tea afterwards.
  • A Mother and Toddler Group on Tuesday and Friday Mornings
  • Local Groups use the building for meetings etc
